Security at Odyssey

Nothing is more important at Odyssey than the physical and emotional safety of our students. We have a total building/grounds security system provided by ADT that includes door sensors, movement sensors and indoor/outdoor video cameras. We ask each visitor to sign-up in the office with a visitor's tag so that we can clearly identify who is in the building besides staff, students, or parents at any given moment.  Parents must give the office written permission for others to pick their child up in after-care, or the student will not be released. No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed on the campus. Additionally, Odyssey is an alcohol and drug-free campus.

Odyssey also has a web-based Community Safe Program. This program allows us to send out community e-messages and phone calls to all our parents at one time. This service is helpful in case of emergencies, such as tornado watches and for other relevant information, such as letting parents know if school is closed or will be closing due to inclement weather.  It can also remind our football team families of upcoming games!

Emotional safety, although far more subtle than physical safety is best dealt with at Odyssey by creating infra-structural support that proactively creates an emotionally safe learning environment. Our staff is trained in both Compassionate Communication and Positive Discipline. As part of that support, we have developed scripts that facilitate problem solving between younger students and peer mediation among our older students.
