Head of school weekly update
What is the Odyssey Seed of Life Access Fund?
We believe that an Odyssey education is an amazing opportunity for students and families. We intentionally structure our schedule, create our curriculum, and spend our budget in a way that supports all of our Six Strands. We enthusiastically embrace the idea that focusing on the whole child is the best route to growth, that compassionate and accountable conversations create trust and belonging, that an arts-integrated approach makes all of our classrooms more dynamic, that assessment should promote student learning instead of just keeping score, that learning takes place in the classroom and beyond, and that allowing students to pursue their individual interests generates enthusiasm for all of the academic subjects.
Kindergarten IRP Presentations
Our kindergarteners took the wheel on their very first Independent Research Projects - choosing their own topics, asking their own questions, and building their own worlds. Lemmings. Mexico. Wizards. Betta fish. Magic. Spiderwebs. Even evolution!
Odyssey High students in OSL
Our high schoolers are out in the worldβusing their voices, their bodies, and their curiosity!
From showing up with peace and love at an ICE protest, to scaling rock walls, to wandering the Arboretum in search of giant trolls⦠this is what Outdoor & Service Learning days look like at Odyssey for our High Schoolers.
We believe education should shape thoughtful humans who care deeply about the world around themβand arenβt afraid to participate in it. ππ
Shapes and Kandinsky in Kindergarten
Our kindergarteners just began their Shapes unit, and today the classroom turned into a tiny art studio. After looking at the work of Wassily Kandinsky - who believed colors and shapes could sound like music - students drew their own shapes and brought them to life with watercolor.
Paint brushes swirled, colors blended, and suddenly geometry felt a lot more like jazz.
Learning shapes.
Exploring art.
Listening for the music inside the paint.
The magic of Amy Glenn's golden retriever
Sometimes the best kind of regulation comes with four legs and a wagging tail. πΎ
Amy Glenn, one of our incredible 7/8 teachers recently shared: βIβm so glad I can bring this sweet boy to school. The kids love him and he brings a lot of joy, regulation, and softness to the class.β
At Odyssey, learning happens in environments where students feel safe, seen, and lovedβand sometimes that love looks like a golden retriever in the middle of the 7/8 class getting a whole lot of affection.
Important meeting in PAWgress!
So far the proposal is receiving very enthusiastic tail wags!
Summer camp special: Secret Agent 23 Skidoo
Big news for summer at Odyssey βοΈπΆ
Weβre thrilled to host a special summer music camp led by Grammy-winning artist @secretagent23skidoo β giving students the chance to create, collaborate, and dive deep into the joy of making music. From songwriting and rhythm to performance and creative expression, campers will spend the week learning directly from a working artist while embracing Odysseyβs playful, pressure-free approach to the arts.
Expect big sounds, big imagination, and the kind of musical magic that happens when kids feel free to explore.
π€ Open to young musicians and curious creators alike.
π Registration is open. Find out more at https://odysseycommunity.org/summer-camp
Letting loose in Music class!
When you schedule βmusic classβ but it turns into pizza + BIG SILLY energy ππΆ
We love that our kids feel this comfortable in Agustinβs music class β loose, joyful, unfiltered, and completely unafraid of belting it out. We believe real musicianship isnβt built on pressure or perfectionism. Itβs built on play. On risk. On laughterβ¦and these humans are pretty awesome at it.
Elementary Special Guest
Ms. Robin had a furry visitor in Literacy class today!
Our tiny visitor curled up for story time, practiced excellent βpawsitiveβ listening skills, and stole the spotlight with that face. Nothing makes reading cozier than a kitten cuddle buddy!
Kinder Conga
Today our kindergarteners felt the call of the conga line and answered it without hesitation. This beautiful weather has everyone moving!
Weβre hiring!

Roller rink night
A fun night at the roller rink with our middle and high schoolers - and yes, a few brave parents and teachers hit the floor too.
The new website is Live!
β¨ Sheβs liveβ¦ and sheβs GORGEOUS. β¨ We are beyond excited to share the newly redesigned Odyssey School website β streamlined, elevated, and better than ever. It captures the heart of our school in such a thoughtful, beautiful way, and we couldnβt be more proud of how it reflects our community.
